Pat's Place Family Updates

What a great year we have had at Pat's Place! I am thrilled to share that we have seen several graduates from our program. One of our notable graduates is Liria, mother to Odeth, Maryorie, Hanan, and Samin. Liria has been working diligently for the Peruvian government for the past couple of years and has now been joyfully reunited with her family. She is currently in the process of developing some land and is working hard to build a new concrete home. Let's celebrate these achievements and continue to support our community's growth and success.

We are also blessed to announce that Yovanah (Mother to Franco and Cielo) has been working at a local school that is just 10 minutes away from the house. While Yovanah graduated from the program a couple of years ago, her situation is a little different than our other mothers in that she has no family, no property, and nowhere to go currently. We are working through a few things while she works to save money to eventually be able to leave Pat’s Place.

Elizabeth, who bravely entered Pat's Place after enduring almost 14 years of physical and psychological violence. Her decision to escape with her three children came when the abuse extended to them. The children's father became extremely physically abusive, particularly towards Jose Manuel, who had some mental health issues. The initial months at Pat's Place were challenging for Elizabeth and her children, as they had to adjust to a new environment and living with other families. However, despite these difficulties, they are all now doing very well both physically and mentally. Their resilience and strength are truly inspiring.

Noelia, a 21-year-old woman who, along with her two minor children, has sought refuge at Pat's Place. Noelia has endured severe psychological and physical abuse from her aggressor, who constantly demeaned her by calling her useless, ugly, fat, and mocking her stuttering problem. This abuse has not only affected Noelia but has also manifested in the behaviors of her children. Noelia has shown great courage by seeking help to protect the integrity and well-being of herself and her children. I believe it is crucial for us to provide her with the necessary support and resources to assist her in this difficult time.

Francisca entered Pat’s Place due to physical, psychological abuse on the whole family, but the worse was the sexual abuse on the children. The first few months were hard on Odalis who had terrible nightmares about her farther who had been abusing her. Both Odalis and Gael have suffered a lot in their short years due to this abuse. After their first 6 months at Pat’s Place, the family is doing very well together. The smile, the love they show, their hugs, and their love for Jesus will blow you away when you grasp where they came from.

We are about to embark on a huge Pat’s Place make over in March of 2025. Every year we must go through the house and perform routine maintenance, and replace things in the house, but next year we are looking to do a lot more. This will be a major under taking for us, and we need your help. Our fundraising goal over the next couple moths is $20,000 dollars to help cover everything we are doing. Below is the short list of items, but it not everything.

  1. Replace Every Bed and Mattress for our families.

  2. Build out Closets in 8 bedrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor.

  3. Completely rebuild the pantry on for the 3rd floor kitchen where our mothers do all of the cooking.

  4. Due to the type of home we have, we have been asked to place braces on the windows for security purposes.

  5. Reinforce the stairwell steps from the first floor to the fourth floor along with the outside railings.
